Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised

In September 2022 we introduced the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds systematic synthetic phonics programme (SSP).

This is a fully comprehensive programme where children begin to learn single letter sounds in the Autumn Term of their Reception year. This builds in progression throughout Reception and Year One enabling children to become readers. It also prepares children for the statutory phonics screening check that takes place at the end of Year One.

Phonics is taught daily. Children learn to apply their phonic skills in reading practise sessions at least 3 times a week. During the sessions children develop their fluency and comprehension skills along the way.

The weblinks below (taken from the Little Wandle website) provide useful information about how to support your child with early reading and phonics at home.
