What is the PE and Sports Premium Grant?
PE & Sports Premium Funding is additional funding the Government supply to primary schools to improve their provision of PE and sports.

This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture and Media and Sport to provide money which will go directly to primary schools for expenditure on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. This funding is solely for sport and PE resources within a school which they, in turn, have to use to improve their provision of PE and sport, but will have the freedom to choose the way they do it.

At Thameside Primary, our improvements in Physical Education (PE) are designed to be sustainable for the future by building confidence, developing skills, and fostering leadership. By investing in ongoing professional development, we aim to enhance staff subject knowledge, ensuring that PE lessons are consistently high-quality and inclusive. Additionally, we are cultivating a network of student sports leaders who will inspire and support their peers, creating a legacy of active engagement. Through these initiatives, we are ensuring that the positive impact on students' physical health and well-being is long-lasting and continues to grow over time.

The ongoing impact of the sports premium funding has had a remarkable effect at Thameside Primary School. For two consecutive years, we have ranked at the top of the Thurrock Schools Partnership Programme league, demonstrating our commitment to physical education and student well-being. In the 2023-24 academic year, our pupils achieved an extraordinary milestone by breaking the record for the highest total score in the league's history. This achievement reflects the dedication of both our staff and students, supported by the valuable resources provided through the sports premium funding.
